Cell phone carriers must be specified in Cloud 9 in order to send patients text messages.
We can add cell phone carriers for an office.
First you will need to fine the email to SMS gateway for that carrier. This can usually be done by doing a google search for "Carrier" email to sms gateway. Replace "Carrier" with the actual name, like Verizon. This search would be Verizon email to sms gateway.
If you find a valid gateway, This can be added under Edit>Setup>Cell Phone Carriers. Click add Then add the description of the carrier and the gateway. The gateway must be entered in as {0}@gateway. For our Verizon example, the Carrier is listed as Verizon and the gateway is entered as {0}@vtext.com
Can’t Find the Carrier Gateway?
If you are unable to find a valid gateway, or it is a discount carrier like straight talk or tracfone, have the patient open their text messaging app and put in the offices email address as the recipient. If the carrier has a gateway, this will be delivered to the offices email address. It will show the recipient address as phonenumber@gateway. We can use this address to either use an existing provider or add a new one.
