Have you found yourself in a situation where you needed to delete something that is under Edit>Setup? Maybe a transaction type that was created but never used? Have you already deleted something, but need to get it back? Don't worry, there is a way to do both.
This article will walk you through deleting setup items that you may not need anymore, as well as restoring items that were deleted - either by accident, or that you have decided you need again.
Before you begin, you should be familiar with the setup items under Edit > Setup in Cloud 9.
Deleting a setup item is pretty straightforward. Let's use the transaction type scenario from above. Let's say you have a transaction type that you never ended up using because you ended up having another one that worked better. You don't want that transaction type in the list anymore, because you're not going to use it and it's just taking up space. How do you get rid of it? Simply click 'Edit' from the top toolbar in Cloud 9 and go to 'Setup'. In this screen, you will see a list of setup item categories on the left hand side.
The first thing to do is to select the category on the left that you want to work with. In this case, it will be 'Transaction Types'. Often, you will have a very large list.
To make it easier, the best option is to use the 'Search' box in the upper right to search for the particular transaction type you're looking for. Let's search for 'Maintenance'.
Once you've found the transaction type you want to delete, simply click the checkbox to the left and click the 'Delete' button. Pretty simple right? Well, there is one other thing to consider. What if both codes have been used? Deleting wouldn't be the best option here. Using the 'Merge Utility' would be your best best in that situation.
What happens if you already knew how to delete setup items, but needed to get one back that had been deleted? Is that even possible? Absolutely! From that same screen, simply click on the 'Show Deleted' button to show items that have been deleted.
You can use the search box again, to find the transaction type you're looking for, check it off on the left as before and then click the 'Restore' button. Your transaction type will be restored and ready to use once again.
