Summary
This article provides an overview of the C9 Agent in Cloud 9, a Windows program that connects printers, x-ray machines, document scanners, and Topaz Signature Pads to Cloud 9. It covers what each device type does and links to installation and troubleshooting guides.
Overview
The C9 Agent is a PC program that connects peripheral devices to Cloud 9. It can be used to connect the following devices:
- Printers
- X-ray machines
- Document scanners
- Topaz Signature Pads
The C9 Agent should be installed on a computer running Windows 8.1 or later. The C9 Agent is not available for Mac users.
Printers
Printers connected to the PC running the C9 Agent can be used to print from anywhere while logged into Cloud 9. Not every screen supports this type of printing, and standard printing can also be used in those situations. Offices may have multiple virtual printers and can specify default printers per individual user or on a site-wide basis.
X-Ray Machines
X-ray machines connect to the C9 Agent to upload images directly into Cloud 9 under Home > Images. When an x-ray is taken, a copy is stored in the user's TwainExport folder on that PC until the next x-ray is taken.
To locate the TwainExport folder:
- Open File Explorer and go to Documents. The TwainExport folder will be listed there.
- Alternatively, use the file path: C:\Users[username]\Documents\TwainExport
Note: The C9 Agent supports 2D imaging only, with a maximum image size of 5MB per image in JPG format. X-ray machines with 3D capabilities may have compatibility limitations. See the Known Compatibility Issues article HERE for more information.
Note: The TWAIN driver for your x-ray machine must be installed on the computer before installing or using the C9 Agent. If your device has known compatibility issues, enabling the Use TWAIN Cap option in the C9 Agent when selecting your TWAIN device may resolve them.
For help installing the C9 Agent for an x-ray machine, see: C9 Agent Installation Guide.
For troubleshooting an existing installation, see: C9 Agent Troubleshooting Guide.
Document Scanners
Document scanners connect to the C9 Agent to upload documents directly into Cloud 9 under Home > Document Cabinet. Documents have a 5MB size limit. Once in a patient's Document Cabinet, click the blue + to acquire and use the C9 Agent with the document scanner to scan the document in.
Note: The TWAIN driver for your scanner must be installed on the computer before installing or using the C9 Agent.
Installation and troubleshooting for document scanners follow the same process as x-ray machines. See the articles linked above if you are having any issues with your document scanner and C9 Agent.
Topaz Signature Pads
Topaz Signature Pads connect to the C9 Agent and are used for signature-based functions when merging letters in Cloud 9.
For help installing or using the C9 Agent with a Topaz Signature Pad, see: Topaz Signature Pads.
