Overview and Definitions
Have you ever accessed Cloud 9 to complete a task or view a treatment card or chart, only to encounter a glitch preventing you from proceeding? Have you ever clicked the "call doctor" button on the light bar but noticed that the blinking did not appear on one computer/login? Have you ever attempted to login and have it fail, knowing you typed in the correct password? In many cases, a simple solution of clearing your browser's cache and cookies can help resolve these issues. You may be wondering why it is important to clear your cache and cookies. This article will explain the benefits of this practice and how, when executed properly, it can often serve as a successful first step in troubleshooting various problems, as well as the rationale behind its effectiveness.
Regularly clearing cached files and cookies is crucial, as web browsers store this data to improve loading speed and user experience. Over time, accumulated files can cause issues, and clearing them helps refresh your browser, often resolving various problems or glitches. It's advisable to clear your cache and cookies weekly or biweekly, depending on performance.
Cached files are temporary data, including files, images, and scripts retained on your device after accessing an app or website. While caching speeds up access, too many cached files can consume storage, hinder loading of updated content, and disrupt performance.
Cookies, on the other hand, store information for a limited time, typically around 30 days, acting like bookmarks for recent actions. For instance, in Cloud 9, security features allow only one login per user per browser. If a previous session's cookie remains and you try to access a different patient's treatment card or chart, errors may arise from conflicting stored actions. Having too many cookies or cached files can lead to confusion and glitches, just like excessive bookmarks can make it hard to track your place in a book.
This is why clearing the cache and cookies is particularly important in Cloud 9. While cookies and cached files can enhance loading speeds for regular websites, they may pose challenges in Cloud 9. The stored information can become outdated, leading to potential issues or glitches when accessing various components of the software. Below you will find instructions on how to clear your Cache and Cookies in different web browsers.
