You're probably aware that you can use the Ortho Tooth Chart in Cloud 9 for extraction letters, but did you know that there are 2 other options as well?
This article will cover the "Uncovered" and "Evaluation" options on the Ortho Tooth Chart that can be used for letters, just like the "Extracted" option. You can use these options to generate a much more involved extraction letter, or they can be used by themselves to create different letters for services you'd like to be performed by a general dentist, oral surgeon, etc.
Before you begin, you'll want to be familiar with the Ortho Tooth Chart and letters generated from it.
Selecting the "Evaluation" or "Uncovered" option on the tooth chart:
When selecting teeth for extraction on the Ortho Tooth Chart, you've probably already noticed the other 2 options. When clicking on a tooth and then clicking the toggle tooth icon in the upper right, you will see 2 other option below 'Extracted/Not Extracted'. These will be 'Uncovered/Not Uncovered' and 'Evaluation/Not Evaluation'.
Selecting 'Uncovered' will place a circle around the tooth and selecting 'Evaluation' will place a square around the tooth.
Once you have these marked, you can click the 'Save' button and you're all set on the tooth chart.
Generating letters based on these 2 options:
When you're ready to create a letter for one or both of these options, you'll do so from the Document Editor in Cloud 9. Let's use the 'Evaluation' option and create a letter to the general dentist. You will typically set up an evaluation letter the same as an extraction letter, with 2 differences. The text of the letter will refer to evaluating, rather than extracting and the merge field (under the "Treatment" section of the merge fields) will be for 'Evaluation_Text' rather than 'Extraction_Text'.
Just like the extraction letter, make sure to add the image merge field for the tooth chart under 'general'>"images'>'Image_ToothChart_Extractions'.
Now you will go ahead and save this letter template with a name that denotes it is for evaluations and you're all ready to use it!
When I go to send a letter for a patient, I'm choosing my newly saved 'Evaluation Letter" and the general dentist as the recipient and I now have an evaluation letter all merged and ready to go.
You would do the same thing for an 'Uncovered' letter - just with different text on the template and choosing 'Uncover_Text' rather than 'Evaluation_Text' for the merge field. The tooth chart image merge field will be the same.
