Summary
Cloud9 now provides more granular control over user permissions for insurance-related and fee schedule functions. This granular control adds and enforces new permissions: Add Employers, Add Billing Centers, Add Insurance Companies, and Edit Fee Schedules.
Edit Insurance Permission
Previously, only users with the permission 'Edit Insurance' could navigate to Edit > Setup > Insurance Billing Center or Edit > Setup > Insurance Companies to edit or add Insurance Companies or Billing Centers. The new 'Add Employers', 'Add Billing Center's, and 'Add Insurance Companies' means that you can disable the 'Edit Insurance' permission so that all centralized data is kept separate. When you remove the 'Edit Insurance' permissions users will see an insufficient permissions notification if they try to access Edit > Setup > Insurance Billing Center or Edit > Setup > Insurance Company.
Add Only Permissions
If the user has the permissions 'Add Employers', 'Add Billing Center's, and 'Add Insurance Companies' enabled, once the 'Edit Insurance' is turned off, they will be unable to edit centralized Insurance information, but they can still add new Billing Centers or Employers or Insurance Companies if necessary from the patient page. If the user navigates to the Edit Patient > Insurance tab, if you click the option for Employer plans or for Insurance, they have the magnifying glass where they can search for existing Employer Plans or Insurance Billing Centers. Once they click the magnifying glass, they will also have a blue '+Add' button that will allow them to add a NEW Employer Plan or Insurance Billing Center if there is not one in the system already. These Add Only Permissions allow administrators to give users the ability to add new insurance entities during patient workflows without granting full edit access, reducing the risk of unintended changes to centralized data while maintaining workflow efficiency.
Edit Fee Schedules
'Edit Fee Schedules' permission allows practices to differentiate between having the permission to Edit Insurance and Fee Schedules. If a user has 'Edit Fee Schedule' enabled, they can edit the Fee Schedules. If it is disabled, they will only be able to choose a fee schedule from the Edit Patient > Insurance Tab, and will receive an insufficient permissions message when attempting to navigate to Edit > Setup > Fee Schedules.
