The functional process Cloud 9 uses to bring items from outside the software to inside the software is through the Import or Acquire features. These are located within the individual patients Document Cabinet, or their Images.
Document Cabinet
At the top of the Document Cabinet, the icons look like the below image when you want to Acquire an image by means of an attached scanner. To utilize this feature, a C9 Agent must already be installed on this machine. For instructions on how to install the C9 Agent, click this link. C9 Agent Installation Guide.
Within your specific patient's Document Cabinet, select the Acquire icon
Once the Icon is selected, your screen will look like this. You will be asked to select which C9 Agent you wish to use in the top field. In the bottom field, free text the name that you want to show for the document.
After selecting the Acquire button, you should see the User Interface for your specific Scanner. From this point forward, the process is outside of Cloud 9. Follow the instructions on your scanner interface. Once the item is scanned, it should appear at the bottom of the list of Documents in that patient's Document Cabinet.
What if there is a document already located on your computer that you want to import into Cloud 9? Select the import button, as seen below.
A window on your computer should open up. Locate the file wherever it was previously stored on your computer, and open. It should appear in the Document Cabinet as the last document in the list.
Images
In order to bring images into the patient chart, navigate to the specific patient into which you want to insert images, and proceed to their image section. Select the blue plus button, and a dropdown menu will appear. Select Import Images, the top option. This will open a screen on your computer, and you can look in your computer at the location the images are stored. Select the desired images, and select open. This will bring the images into Cloud 9, where they can be identified by Image Series Type, and the names of the specific images. This process is routinely performed to bring Extra-Oral Images into Cloud 9, such as those taken with a camera, and imported via an SD card or some other means.
To Acquire images through the assistance of an X-Ray Machine, a C9 Agent will need to be present on this computer. If you are unaware how to install a C9 Agent on your computer, go to this C9 Agent Installation Guide article.
After the C9 Agent is installed, it will need to be open and connected. Check this by hovering over the C9 Agent Icon in the toolbar on the bottom right of your computer screen. If it is showing connected, you can proceed.
Go to the specific patient into which you need to import images. Go to their images section, and select the blue Acquire button. Using the dropdown menu, select Acquire Pan. Please note, the option for selecting Acquire Ceph is identical to that of Acquire Pan, so for brevity's sake, I will only cover one in this article.
Acquire Pan/Ceph
Using the dropdown menu, select the name of the C9 Agent. Then select the Blue Acquire button. This will open up the User Interface for your X-ray Machine Software. Follow the steps as normal to acquire the image. When the image has been fully acquired, it will automatically download through the C9 Agent into Cloud 9. The name of the Image Series Type and the specific image need to be selected and saved. Then the image will import into Cloud 9. Save the images prior to exiting the screen.
Acquire Series
Follow the steps above to ensure the C9 Agent is Open and Running. Within the patient chart, go to their Image section. Select the Blue Plus Icon, and in the dropdown select Acquire Series. You will again be asked to select the name of your specific C9 Agent. You will also be asked to Choose an Image Layout. Use the dropdown menu to see the available layouts in your system. Identify your preferred layout and choose the Select icon.
An image similar to the one below will appear. It may not look exactly like what you see below, as this example may have a layout loaded that is not like the one you have in your system. However, the same concepts apply. The patient's name is pre-filled, as you were inside the patient chart when you entered the image screen. The next field is where you use the dropdown menu to select the Image Series from the list of available options. The Layout field is next, and you can select whichever layout you need from the dropdown menu. Please note in the series listed below, the first image location is highlighted by a green header color, whereas the remaining ones are blue. This tells you which image you are taking of the series. When you take the image, it will be deposited in the field with the green header.
Once the image is taken, the green header will move to the next image, and you can take that image. Continue the process until all images have been taken, and select the blue Import button at the bottom right. Each image should load into Cloud 9, at which time you can crop and save them into Cloud 9.
