Summary
This article covers how to install and set up the Topaz Signature Pad with Cloud 9, including driver installation, C9 Agent configuration, and how to capture and insert a signature into a merged letter in Cloud 9.
Topaz Signature Pad can be used to insert a signature into a letter that requires a signature, (e.g., a contract.)
Steps to Install and Setup the Topaz Signature Pad.
Step 1: First, you will want to have the Topaz Signature Pad plugged in, and install the driver for use. This is done by running the SigPlus program from the site of https://www.sigpluspro.com. Select the correct model from the list and download and run the driver.
Step 2: Make sure the Topaz Signature pad is powered on and plugged into the computer you wish to use it on. These steps must be completed first before setting up the C9 Agent for use with the Topaz Signature Pad.
Step 3: Next, you will want to install the C9 Agent. From inside of Cloud 9 click the Help button, (icon with a question mark in a circle) > install c9 agent and run the file.
Step 4: Then you will need to register the agent and fill in the Agent Name, Cloud 9 URL, Username and Password. Each field is reviewed below the screenshot.
- Agent Name: Name of C9 Agent. When you click the Acquire button in Cloud 9, this name will show, (e.g., Front Desk, Benton X-ray, Jesse's Scanner.) For Topaz you should put front desk Topaz or Debbie Topaz, to know which topaz signature pad it is for.
- Cloud 9 URL: https://sitename.cloud9ortho.com (Your cloud 9 URL without the HTML5 at the end should be entered here.)
-
Username and Password: This can be any username and password on the practice's URL to be entered here. Once it has been entered and you click okay you will know it is successful because it says C9Agent-Connected-version number-Topaz(as long as you name it Topaz.)
Step 5: You can confirm that it's connected by clicking 'About' menu in the C9 Agent. It will say Topaz Status: Connected.
Then you can click close, minimize or the x to exit out of the about section.
How to use Topaz Signature Pad
- Go into Cloud9, open the Letter Queue or patient communication menu, and merge a letter.
- Click on Signature Pad in the bottom of the letter.
- Now you can select the Topaz button. (Note: If you are using a mouse, or an ipad, click the Capture button instead of the Topaz button.)
- A prompt will appear with a drop down asking you to 'Choose Topaz Signature Pad'. If there are multiple ones available, select the correct one. Otherwise, if there is just one, it will default to it.
- After selecting the C9 Agent, it will open the Signature Capture screen, at this point it is waiting for a signature. It will say Cloud 9 Signature Capture and have several buttons on the screen. The buttons and their purpose are listed here.
- Sign: This is the default state of the capture, and allows the signature pad to sign in the box.
- Stop: Disables input from the signature pad.
- Clear: Will clear any signature already received, useful if the signer has an issue and wishes to start over.
- Ok: Accept the signature and bring it back into Cloud 9.
-
Cancel: Close the window without taking the signature.
- After pressing okay the signature will be pulled back into Cloud 9.
- Once the signature is back into Cloud 9, use one of the buttons in the signature pad to determine where it goes. The buttons are:
Merge: Place the signature in the document where the {Signature} merge field is in the document.
Insert: Place the signature in the document wherever the blinking text cursor is currently placed.
Clear: Clear the signature.
