Summary
As of May 1st, 2026, Cloud 9 has launched the new Cloud 9 Navigation Bar. The navigation bar has been fully redesigned and unified with the DentalOS design system. The unified navigation provides a consistent look and feel across Cloud 9 and Denticon, with a clean navigation bar, updated typography, and modern dropdown interactions.
What to Expect and What's Changed
This section will review the changes to the Cloud 9 Navigation bar with the new Cloud 9 Header.
• Updated Styling: The top navigation bar now matches the DentalOS design.
• Responsive Design: The navigation bar dynamically adjusts to different screen resolutions.
• Full-Width Header Layout: The header now spans the full width of the screen.
• Moved Functionality: The Time Clock and Logout functions have been moved under the User Avatar.
• The Location Selection has been moved from the Hamburger menu on the left to a new dropdown field.
-The Location Selection is now on the right side of the navigation bar, just before the new icons. If you select a location or schedule view here, it will respect the new selected location for email settings, location posted on charges posted to the ledger, and other location specific settings. Screenshot below showing its location on the Navigation Bar.
-For the Location Selection, if you click the drop down arrow, it will bring up a search bar. You can type in the search bar to find a location, and there is also now an X that will appear. You can click the x to quickly clear your search history to show all locations.
• Redesigned Icons: Updated/new icons include Schedule, Chat, Two-Way Messaging, Full Screen, Lock Cloud 9, Help, and User Avatar.
-Schedule: Instead of clicking Home > Schedule, the schedule is now accessed from the calendar icon on the navigation bar. The very first button is the calendar, pictured in the screen shot below. This is how you will access the schedule or locator details. Click it and the options Schedule or Locator Bar appear. Pick the one you wish to view. Note: The location you select in the drop down to the left of this button is the schedule that will appear when you click schedule.
-Chat: The next icon, which is a rectangular chat box with lines denoting text inside of it is for the Cloud 9 Internal employee Chat. Clicking it will open your Cloud 9 Chats with other employees. (For more info see THIS article.)
-Two Way Messaging: The third icon is a pair of empty chat bubbles, one larger than the other, for access to Two Way Messaging, a feature of Cloud 9 Connect. (For More info see THIS article.) Clicking the icon takes you directly into Two Way Messaging.
-Full Screen Mode: The fourth icon is four arrows pointing to the corners for full screen mode. Clicking this allows Cloud 9 to go into Full Screen Mode. To exit Full Screen Mode press the ESC button on your keyboard.
-Lock Cloud 9: The next icon is a lock and when you click it, it locks your Cloud 9 URL so that your password must be entered to view the screen again. This could be useful when you want to lock Cloud 9, but not the entire computer. If you click the lock a message appear saying your screen is locked. You must enter your password to unlock it again and view your previous Cloud 9 session.
-Help: The Help section of cloud 9 has moved to the icon that is a question mark with a circle surrounding it. If you click this Help icon, you can see the entire help menu list: Release Notes, Documentation, About, Download C9 Agent, Give Feedback, and Use New Cloud 9 Header.
**Helpful hint: Clicking Help > Documentation > Chat will take you to our Cloud 9 Help Center, where you can view helpful articles about Cloud 9, or use the chat bubble on the lower right to live chat with a Support rep during business hours.
-User Avatar: The User Avatar is the circle icon with the Users Initials. It is the button farthest to the right on the new navigation bar. Clicking this button will allow you to access Time Clock or Log out from Cloud 9.
As always, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Cloud 9 Support by emailing us at cloud9support@planetdds.com, or chatting us online using the chat bubble on the lower right at https://cloud9support.planetdds.com/hc/en-us, or giving us a call during our business hours of 8:00 AM EST to 8:00 PM EST at the 1.800.394.6050 option 2.
